For hundreds
of years, the Native American Tribes residing in the Siletz River watershed
caught and smoked salmon. These fish were eaten fresh, traded, and
most importantly, smoke-dried for winter use.

Each year the arrival of the salmon run was marked with
special ceremonies and rituals to honor the salmon and respectfully request
their return in subsequent years. Because of the salmon's importance to Tribal
society, artwork, stories, and teachings were often oriented around salmon.
In the spirit of honoring the heritage and
traditions of the Native ancestors, The Confederated Tribes of Siletz
Indians of Oregon, in partnership with Oregon Smoked Foods, Inc. offers
Siletz Tribal Smokehouse Smoked Salmon. This salmon is wild,
non-endangered Pacific salmon. No preservatives, artificial flavors, or
colorants added. All products are shelf-stable and require refrigeration
only after opening.
The
Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians of Oregon have their tribal offices in
Siletz Oregon. They also own the beautiful Chinook Winds Casino in
Lincoln City, Oregon. Their tribal members span throughout Oregon and
beyond now; however, there is still a large and proud population of Siletz
Indians located on the beautiful Oregon Coast. Oregon Smoked Foods,
Inc. is proud to be a partner and supporter of the Siletz Tribal people.
While some companies use the Indian persona strictly as a marketing look,
the Siletz Tribe receives a portion of all sales of Siletz Tribal Smokehouse
brand products for their tribal members and economic development. When
you buy these products you will know that you are supporting a great
heritage of people, and their secret of the magical qualities of salmon are
shared with you.
